Telehealth Program Reaches 1,000 Consultations Milestone
Peace Nomads telehealth platform connecting diaspora healthcare providers with refugee families reaches 1,000 medical consultations milestone.

Peace Nomads' telehealth initiative has reached a significant milestone, completing over 1,000 medical consultations that connect diaspora healthcare professionals with families in refugee camps across East Africa.
Bridging Healthcare Gaps
The program addresses a critical need in refugee communities where access to specialized healthcare is often limited. By leveraging technology and the expertise of diaspora medical professionals, families can receive culturally competent care in their native languages.
Dr. Kebede Tadesse, Health Program Coordinator, explains: "This platform isn't just about medical consultations. It's about preserving dignity, providing care in familiar languages, and connecting communities across continents."
Program Highlights
Since launching 18 months ago, the program has achieved remarkable results:
- 1,000+ completed consultations
- 45 volunteer healthcare providers from the diaspora
- Services in 8 different languages
- 95% patient satisfaction rate
- Coverage across 12 refugee camps
Real Stories, Real Impact
The program has facilitated consultations ranging from routine check-ups to specialized care for chronic conditions. Mental health support has been particularly impactful, with many patients expressing relief at being able to discuss their concerns in their native language with providers who understand their cultural context.
"Being able to speak with a doctor in Somali about my diabetes management has been life-changing. She understands not just my medical needs, but also my cultural dietary preferences." - Ahmed, telehealth patient
Expanding Access
Building on this success, Peace Nomads is expanding the program to include specialist consultations in cardiology, pediatrics, and women's health. The organization is also developing partnerships with medical schools to create training opportunities for diaspora healthcare students.
The next phase will introduce AI-powered translation services and mobile health units equipped with diagnostic tools, further expanding the program's reach and impact.
