50 Young Leaders Graduate from Digital Skills Program
Peace Nomads Digital Leadership Program celebrates 50 young graduates who gained essential digital literacy and leadership capabilities.

In a celebration of achievement and potential, 50 young people from Kakuma refugee camp graduated from Peace Nomads' intensive 6-month Digital Leadership Program, marking another milestone in the organization's commitment to youth empowerment.
Comprehensive Skills Development
The program combines digital literacy training with leadership development, preparing young people to become advocates and change-makers in their communities. Participants learn everything from basic computer skills to advanced digital marketing and project management.
Amina Hassan, Education Program Manager, reflects on the program's impact: "We're not just teaching technical skills. We're nurturing the next generation of leaders who will use technology to solve real problems in their communities."
Curriculum Highlights
The comprehensive curriculum includes:
- Digital literacy and computer fundamentals
- Social media management and digital marketing
- Project management and leadership skills
- Financial literacy and entrepreneurship
- Community organizing and advocacy
- Grant writing and fundraising
Student Success Stories
Among the graduates is 22-year-old Halima, who used her new skills to launch a digital literacy program for women in her community. "The program taught me that technology isn't just about computers," she says. "It's about connection, opportunity, and hope."
Another graduate, 19-year-old Omar, has started an online platform connecting young entrepreneurs in the camp with mentors in the diaspora. His initiative has already supported 15 small business startups.
"This program didn't just teach me skills; it taught me to dream bigger and gave me the tools to make those dreams reality." - Halima, program graduate
Creating Ripple Effects
The program's impact extends far beyond individual participants. Graduates are required to complete a community project, resulting in initiatives that have reached over 2,000 community members. These projects range from digital literacy workshops for elders to online platforms for local businesses.
Looking Ahead
Peace Nomads is expanding the Digital Leadership Program to additional locations, with plans to launch in three new refugee camps in 2025. The organization is also developing an alumni network to provide ongoing support and collaboration opportunities for graduates.
Applications for the next cohort open in January 2025, with the program continuing to evolve based on community needs and emerging technology trends.
